Radio producer and broadcaster John Walters recognized Keith Moon's potential as a radio personality and hired him to cover for DJ John Peel on 'Top Gear' in the summer of 1973. His debut was so successful Walters wanted to produce a Moon comedy album, but in rock star fashion, Keith abandoned it.
